Ever since I moved to Manchester, the Museum has been one of my favourite places to visit, and not just because they have a T-Rex! My friends and I used to spend hours roaming round and round the halls, discovering something new on each visit. But even when I don’t go there to discover, it’s just a lovely peaceful building to be in.
The Ancient Worlds gallery has just been refurbished by Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams architects, and finally reopened last week. I remember it as a dark, claustrophobic space, but it has now been transformed into a light and airy series of open rooms and walkways.
I also took a couple of pictures of the Living Worlds gallery, which was refurbished last year. This one was always my favourite!

So glad you like it – I work at the Museum (I’m one of the education officers) and I think that Ancient Worlds is a fantastic improvement. My fave bit has to be the mass collection cases – all those shabti figures, lamps, glass and stone vessels! Amazing! 8o)

Thank you, it was only a quick trip and I didn’t have the tripod so it was quite a rush job, I’m glad some of them came out okay!
I love the Museum! It was my haven from dissertation when I was holed up in the library next door writing it. I haven’t been in a while though, I’ll have to give it a re-visit.
Also, is that ram (okay, maybe not a ram but I’m not sure what it is!) wearing a blue knit jumper?
