New publication call to arms!

Quimperfect Tense is a new online publication and literary development group run by myself, Rebecca Audra Smith and Jacky Hillary.

We’re women-focused (hence the name), but we really just want to feature writing that treats women well as characters. We’re open to submissions from anyone, no matter what gender you identify as.

  • Our first submission window is open from April 1st – April 30th, and the (suggested) theme is The Body.
  • Short fiction should be no more than 1000 words (if you have something a bit over, please contact us) and flash fiction (less than 500) is preferred.
  • Poetry should be 40 lines or less, and again, shorter pieces are ideal.
  • We are also interested in pitches for short articles, interviews, short form comics, and creative non-fiction.

Send submissions to before April 30th for the chance to appear in the first issue!

At the moment we are unable to pay contributors, but once we reach $200 (£120) on our Patreon page we will be paying the following rates:

Short story – £20

Poem – £15

Flash Fiction – £10

Article – £10

Artwork/comic – £20

Patreon is a crowdfunding website. You decide how much you want to pledge, and will be charged this amount each time we publish an issue, not before. You can cancel or change your pledge level at any time. Certain pledge levels have rewards, and there is even one created just for writers!

If you’d like to support us, check out our Patreon right here. The sooner we hit our target of $200, the sooner we will be paying contributors!

You can read more about our aims/requirements on our Patreon page, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask, or email!

About sarahgracelogan

Sarah Grace is an itinerant scribbler and general layabout. She runs a writing group called CAKE.shortandsweet, because any form of procrastination from actual writing is always attractive to the serious author of refined taste. When not distracted by laser pens, Sarah Grace writes novels, short stories and flash fiction, poetry, stage scripts and screenplays. She has performed her work at Stirred Poetry, Bad Language and Tongue in Cheek Manchester. Her first publication, Humping the Boonies is a self-published chapbook available directly from the author, or from Travelling Man, Manchester. You can find more details about her ongoing projects, not to mention a selection of free stories up for grabs right here on her blog. She also likes to talk about theatre, film, books, photography, and especially games and other things that involve collaborative storytelling. Sarah Grace likes feedback, in whatever form it comes.
